English 6
This course is divided into two main semesters covering fundamental literacy and communication skills. The curriculum focuses on analyzing literature and nonfiction, and practicing various forms of informational, creative, and argumentative writing. Students will learn essential skills for understanding complex texts and expressing themselves effectively across different genres and media, ensuring a strong foundation for future academic success.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, students will analyze plot, conflict, and theme in literature and nonfiction, and differentiate between various genres and poetic forms. They will master planning and structuring multiple forms of essays, including argumentative writing, and gain proficiency in grammar, research skills, public speaking, and using media to enhance presentations.

Students entering the 6th grade curriculum, students who need to build a strong foundation in reading comprehension and writing mechanics, and students preparing for the rigors of middle school Language Arts.
