Geometry

This course uses logic and formal thinking to establish relationships among points, lines, angles, and plane and solid figures. Students will define and explore the properties of these shapes through core mathematical practices. Key learning areas give students the formal thinking skills needed to excel in higher-level math.

Key Topics

  • Foundations of Geometry
  • Coordinate Geometry and Transformations
  • Theorems about Lines, Angles, and Polygons
  • Geometric Constructions
  • Right Triangles and Trigonometry
  • Circles, Solids, and Probability

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion, students will be able to prove geometric theorems using a variety of methods, complete geometric constructions, and find distances, slopes, and midpoints. They will also be able to describe congruence and similarity, apply geometric concepts to solve real-world problems, and prove and apply circle properties and theorems.
