Spring Academy is a private school in north Seattle, educating students exclusively through one-to-one instruction. We are a progressive school for students who face challenges in their current setting: academics, learning disabilities, social or emotional issues. Each child has the capacity for success and we are committed to helping students recognize and realize their full potential and abilities.
Spring Academy serves students in grades K-12 with enrollment options ranging from Tutoring K-8 special education students in reading, writing and math to Part-Time courses and Full-Time programs for high school students. Our environment is caring, personal and positive.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a leader who shares our passion for education tailored to each child and has the requisite educational expertise to contribute to our mission.
We have expanded our tutoring program providing K-8 reading, writing and math instruction to special education students at private schools throughout north Seattle. We would like to add a key administrator to our team to support and oversee this program: managing student programs, supporting our teachers, communicating with families and partnering with participating private schools. The Special Education Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring high quality programs and relationships.
The Special Education Coordinator will provide the day-to-day management of our K-8 reading, writing and math tutoring programs, including:
- Oversight of operations and student programs
- Regular contact with teachers and parents
- Support and development of individual learning plans
- Teacher mentoring and substitution
- Collaboration with partner schools
- Planning and managing student-teacher schedules
SCHEDULE
This is a half-time position (20 hours per week) but can grow to full-time as we expand. The position will begin in September and go through June. Our school schedule is based on a four-day week, Monday-Thursday. Compensation based on experience.

REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or Teaching Certificate
- Special Education experience/expertise
- 3+ years K-12 teaching experience
- Preferred: Master’s degree, administrative and 1-to-1 teaching experience
