Accelerate to Algebra I
Accelerate to Algebra 1 is a concise course designed to prepare students for success by providing a comprehensive review of fundamental skills and essential mathematical concepts for upcoming studies in algebra. Students will gain proficiency in applying algebraic techniques to represent and solve problems, while also exploring the application of statistics and probability for drawing conclusions and making predictions.
Key Topics
- Algebraic Expressions and Equations: Interpreting and rewriting expressions, and formulating and solving problems using one- and two-variable linear equations.
- Functions and Proportionality: Solving problems by representing them with proportional relationships and identifying key characteristics of linear functions.
- Systems of Equations: Describing connections among various representations of functions and solving systems of linear equations using algebraic methods.
- Data Analysis and Modeling: Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data effectively, including representing data with scatter plots and applying mathematical models.
- Statistics and Probability: Applying probabilities and using random samples to draw inferences about populations.
Learning Outcomes
Students will master the fundamental algebraic skills necessary to excel in the full Algebra 1 course, including fluently rewriting expressions and solving various linear equations and systems. They will also gain the ability to apply statistical and probabilistic reasoning to analyze data and make informed predictions.
