English 10
This course is an in-depth study of language that develops students’ writing skills through the interpretation and analysis of diverse texts. Students will apply techniques discovered in various genres of literature, as well as informational texts. The curriculum emphasizes close reading, analysis of literary elements, and the impact of diction to compose various texts, including narratives, arguments, and informative pieces.

Learning Outcomes
Upon completion, students will distinguish between denotative and connotative meanings, determine central ideas, and analyze an author’s claims and purpose. They will explore cultural experiences in literature, develop effective arguments, and make and support inferences. Students will refine planning, writing, revising, and editing skills through a variety of writing assignments.
