Math 7
Math 7 enhances students’ understanding and application of mathematical practices. It builds fluency with rational numbers and proportions, while introducing advanced algebra, geometry, statistics, and probability. Students will apply proportional reasoning and rational number operations to real-world problems, gain foundational algebra skills (including multi-step equations), and develop data analysis and interpretation abilities using probability and statistics.
Key Topics
- Proportional Relationships: Gaining a strong grasp of proportions and their use in complex problem-solving.
- Rational Number Operations: Enhancing fluency with operations, and translating between different forms of rational numbers.
- Algebraic Expressions and Equations: Simplifying, rewriting, and solving more complex algebraic expressions and inequalities.
- Geometry: Exploring scale drawings, investigating circle properties, and deepening the understanding of area, volume, and surface area.
- Statistics and Probability: Utilizing sample data to make predictions about populations and calculating probabilities using various methods.
Learning Outcomes
Students will gain proficiency in applying proportional reasoning and rational number operations to solve real-world problems. They will acquire foundational skills in algebra, including solving multi-step equations, and will develop the ability to analyze and interpret data using probability and statistics.
Grade Level
- Middle School (Grade 7)
