The Spring Academy offered a natural transition from the great progress our son made at the Lehman Academy with some executive function challenges. The pacing of the work is one of the greatest attributes of the program. His forward progress is based on him demonstrating proficiency with the subject matter. If it takes a little longer, his teacher is there to patiently support him. He is also given the opportunity to test out of specific sections for which he is proficient. The Spring Academy’s curriculum is accredited in Washington State and there are several objective forms of measurement by which our son’s progress is monitored. For our family the subjective forms of measurement are meaningful as well. He is always ready to go to his twice a week, hour long session at the Spring Academy. Most often he is smiling when we pick him up as he tells us about how he “gets it” or that he just did well on an exam. We are also appreciative of the Principal. He was very generous with his time in helping us decide if the Spring Academy would be a good fit. The accredited curriculum along with his help made it easy to substitute his math class at Seattle Public Schools with another subject. Our son will receive full credit for his Math class conducted at the Spring Academy. The Spring Academy offers a very flexible schedule which gave us lots of options for our son’s busy extracurricular schedule. We are very happy to have found the Spring Academy and would recommend it to anyone seeking help for a student experiencing a learning challenge.
